Mac OS - Internet Setup Assistant

There are a few different ways to start the Internet Setup Assistant:

  • Method 1: Click the Apple menu, go to Internet Access and choose the Internet Setup Assistant.
  • Method 2: Open your hard drive icon, open the Assistants folder, and double click the Internet Setup Assistant.

Once the Internet Setup Assistant opens, answer Yes to the questions Would you like to setup your computer to use the Internet and Do you already have an Internet account.

On the Introduction screen, click the arrow to advance.

Select your Modem and the correct Port for your modem. If your phone uses pulse (rotary) dialing, make sure you change the option to Pulse. Click the arrow to advance.

Enter your Local Access Number into the first field.

The number should be entered exactly as it needs to be dialed. For example, if you need to dial the area code enter the number as XXX XXX-XXXX, or if you need to dial 9 to get an outside line enter the number as 9, XXX-XXXX. Dashes (-) and spaces are not required.
Enter your username and password into the appropriate fields. Click the arrow to advance.

A Cute Internet does not require a PPP Connect Script when you connect. Choose No and click the right arrow to advance.

Select No when asked if there is an IP address for this configuration. Click the arrow to advance.

Enter your DNS numbers in the first box. Click here for this list of A Cute Internet DNS numbers. Enter A Cute Internet.net for the Domain Name. Click the arrow to advance.

Enter your e-mail address in the first box. Enter your email password into the second box. Click the arrow to advance.

Enter your email account: this will be your username @ mail server name. Click here for the list of A Cute Internet Mail Servers.

Example: If your email address is johndoe@ A Cute Internet.net, your email account would be johndoe@mail. A Cute Internet.net. Or, if your email address is bobsmith@pgh.net, your POP account would be bobsmith@doit.pgh.net.

Enter your mail server name into the box for the SMTP host. Click here for the list of A Cute Internet Mail Servers. Click the arrow to advance.

If you would like to setup your News server, enter your NNTP News Server name, otherwise leave this field blank. Click here for the list of A Cute Internet News Servers. Click the arrow to advance.

A Cute Internet does not use Proxy servers. Click No and click the arrow to advance.

To verify the settings you entered, click the Show Details button. To finish the Setup Assistant, click Go Ahead.

 


Help us help you! If you contact A Cute Internet support for assistance please write down any error messages you get when trying to connect to the Internet. Include the name and version of your operating system and the exact text of all error messages. If this information is included in an online case submission or provided to a support representative, it will greatly speed up the troubleshooting process.

Please be aware that some troubleshooting may require uninstallation and reinstallation of operating system files. To ensure that this type of troubleshooting can be accomplished if required, please be sure that you have to have original Operating System CD or Operating system source files on disk on hand.
